As you do your research to beging your online business you will look at the needed investment start up cost into your business. When you work from home you will have both start up costs as well as ongoing expenses for things like advertising, computer related expenses, both in equipment, programs and maintenance; communications such as fax, cell phones, office phone and office services unless you are going to be a one man band. Despite all the promises about how to make money online, they are not over night get rich quick plans. When someone tells you that promise, do not walk, run!!! Expect to be successful and expect to work. That is how the real world works.
Is it about time for you to take the plunge and start a business to work from home? Most people agree that our economic troubled times are leaving most people concerned about their financial future. Having a home business to make money online is a smart investment and for some it can be a way to shift from the shackles of a job to being your sole income.
Like Dr. Phill says, So just how is that working out for you? How secure is your job, the long communte with increasing gas prices, retirment funds falling away, banks closing and more. Is not it time for you to find a few alternative income sources. To work from home is one option and among them probably the most solid is to make money online. Just be watchful of the flim flam man,those that tell you it is easy, free or practicly no money or time involved, BIG Money. Do you really believe that?
There are so many ways to have a work from home business that to make money online has never been easier. The information age came on with a wave of power and possibilities; then the computer revolution with the advent of the Personal PC brought those possibilities into your home. Actually it is the youth of today which understand almost with an instinct born as their birth right how to twist and twirl the personal PC. Those of us, especially baby boomers, are working at learning what comes natural to those of younger years.
There are so many options to consider. What type of business: a start up company or some idea you have been hatching for some time or a well established franchise that provides the products, fully designed web sites, training and support. By far the franchise is your best option with the least risk. But then what type of franchise? The products should be in high demand and ones that people will be using despite the economic situations. Health, wellness, travel and anything that supports going green are good choices to consider.
Look for a business where you can work from home to make money online with a company that has a strongly established business and has a spotless reputation. They represent YOU just as how well you work represents on the company. Do they provide a product line or service that you can be really be passionate about. For example, one of my areas of work is in eco friendly products. That is a hot area for me to write on and work with, so my interest is always high. Work from Home with an Online Business: Choose Carefully what Company to Promote 6-23-09
If you are feeling the call to work from home with your own online business, take your time and choose carefully what company you support. Just as you reflect on the company, your business, they also reflect on your character. Do your due diligence of exploring the company before jumping into the boat with them. Often first impressions are not what the reality is all about.
But actually, before that stages do the following:
Why do you want to be in business and work from home? List all the benefits you think you will have or want, the amount of hour and schedule you will keep. Do you have some 6 months, one year, two year, etc. to achieve your financial goals? And have you drawn up a goal for life style which includes family, free time, fun, church and other activities? Do you need to back off on any of them to achieve your financial goal for your business? How can you hit the target if you do not even have a direction to head?
One way to look at a program is would you want to purchase their products on a regular basis? Are they consumable, in high demand and eco friendly? If you are interested then probably many others will as well. Green companies are very much in demand.
Look into the quality of the company, the products and their overall reputation in the community. Try to talk to some of the consumers and representatives of the company to get their picture of service and quality as they work from home too.
It is a wise idea to join with a company that has a wide variety of products with constant research. You are much more vulnerable with one product line companies, no matter how good of a product it is.
Look into the compensation plan and be sure that it includes residual income. You want income now but more importantly you want your efforts to build for the future.
Know exactly what is expected of you, where do the potential clients come from, do you have quotas to fill or set amounts of product you must buy and keep a warehouse at home, or product to buy each month in order to get paid? That may be fine with you, just know the rules so you do not get caught in an unpleasant surprise.
What business tools will you need for your office, printers, fax, phone and communication systems, computer tools and programs? Know your start up cost and then ongoing costs. Work out a solid budget you will work from. Do you have a plan for a financial reserve and I hope you do not mean credit cards and loans. The interest on them can cause you to lose what you build with heart and hands.
Work from home is the American Dream and for many of us we would not have it any other way. Just go into it with your eyes open and solid plans. Do not let emotions sell you on some fast talking person. Does it feel right to you? Is that how you want to represent yourself to others. Make good choices and I will see you at the Top!

There are literally thousands of people entering into the work from home business due to the sagging economy, massive business layoffs, and whole industries vanishing as work moves overseas. Families are needed in the past often worked for a small second income for those little extras; however families now need a steady income they can count on. I strongly suggest diversification (never put all your eggs in one basket).
A home business is a popular way to run a small company. Working from home has so many advantages, especially online home business; my favorite is what I call the 2 minute commute! Seriously though, it dramatically decreases the start-up costs such as leasing a commercial business space, improvements, utilities and major office equipment expenses.
Here are some tips for your work from home jobs set-up:
Install a phone line dedicated to your online home business.
Set up an LLC so that your home assets and banking are completely separate from your business. It is easy and inexpensive for a lawyer to do it for you. Well worth the security.
Open a BUSINESS BANKING ACCOUNT with your business name LLC on the checks.
Set up a SAVINGS ACCOUNT for your business, remember keep it in a business LLC account. Build it up because when you least expect it, you will need it.
As soon as possible also get two credit cards with your business name LLC
Consider where you are setting up the location ofyour business. Hopefully you will have a room dedicated to your work from home business. Tax write off includes a % of square footage and then divides that up for a percent of heat, lights, water, etc. BUT the space must be for you home based business only. So if you do not have a room, then mark out an area that is Business ONLY to keep our friendly tax person happy.
Decide on an answering service and in most cases it is required to have a 1-800 number for someone to take you seriously. A fax number often is mixed in with your printer.
Organize your work space with great care. Make sure that you have sufficient space to meet your needs. Everything should be labld and clear where it belongs. Handle things once, be it mail or a folder is good business rule.
If needed for your type of business, when scheduling appointments with clients, consider meeting at your clients office or renting a conference room to maintain a professional image. Or learn the new up to date technology of Web-Conferencing on the computer. It is fairly easy and not expensive if you use the right services.
Keep excellent records of entertainment and travel expenses. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) tends to audit home-based businesses more frequently—especially when they are writing off a variety of expenses, including the percentage of the mortgage or rent for your office space.
There are several good record keepers such as Day Timer®, Franklin Quest® and Day Planner that will help you keep track of your expenses. Your accountant or a CPA is recommended and can advise you on deductions you can take and records you must keep for the IRS. Talk with them before or early on in your business so that you are starting your record keeping off on a good track.
Set up your computer system, proper programs and decide who will handle your repairs and help as you need it. Check out their service and if possible talk to referrals. Do NOT just trust the Big Computer Stores to be there for you. You are usually not a person to them, just a broken piece of equipment and you go into the ‘Q’. Trust me; a good computer person on your team is worth their weight in Gold. A good 2nd PC lap top that can multi task can be a life saver.
Discipline yourself. You must be a self-starter and follow a routine, just as if you were working for any other business. In many cases, you are the only person you can rely on to get the job done. Unless it is an emergency, do not baby-sit or chat with your neighbors. Know when you are at work and when you are off of work, even if you have a work from home business. You must be the captain of your own ship and hold your course to get where you are headed. Sail on with full sails and success!

I have done my share of bogus work from home programs, the hype made it look better than Mother hood and apple pie. The hype is what sells you or you have an associate that things the program is the best thing going and convinces you to join the program. The promoter gets on and talks about being family. The only thing he is interested in is your money. You really need to do your due diligence on any program you are thing to join. One of my associates put this list of scams together. Take the time to read and hopefully you won’t waste your money.
To prepare one self to work from home, you need to be aware of the most common scams. Always make sure that you protect yourself by learning to recognize the most common work from home scams that are on the internet..
ASSEMBLY WORK FROM HOME: Typical Ad -- "Assembly work at home! Easy money assembling craft items. No experience necessary."
This scheme requires you to invest hundreds of dollars in instructions and materials and many hours of your time to produce items such as baby booties, toy clowns, and plastic signs for a company that has promised to buy them. Once you have purchased the supplies and have done the work, the company often decides not to pay you because your work does not meet certain "standards." You are then left with merchandise that is difficult or impossible to sell.
CHAIN LETTER: Typical Ad -- "Make copies of this letter and send them to people whose names we will provide. All you have to do is send us ten dollars for our mailing list and labels. Look at the chart below and see how you will automatically receive thousands in cash return!!!" The only people who benefit from chain letters are the mysterious few at the top of the chain who constantly change names, addresses, and post office boxes. They may attempt to intimidate you by threatening bad luck, or try to impress you by describing themselves as successful professionals who know all about non-existent sections of alleged legal codes.
ENVELOPE STUFFING: Typical Ad -- "$350 Weekly Guaran- teed! Work two hours daily while you work from home stuffing envelopes."
When answering such ads, you may not receive the expected envelopes for stuffing, but instead get promotional material asking for cash just for details on money-making plans. The details usually turn out to be instructions on how to go into the business of placing the same kind of ad the advertiser ran in the first place. Pursuing the envelope ad plan may require spending several hundred dollars more for advertising, postage, envelopes, and printing. This system feeds on continuous recruitment of people to offer the same plan. There are several variations on this type of scheme, all of which require the customer to spend money on advertising and materials. According to the U.S. Postal Inspection
Service, "In practically all businesses, envelope stuffing has become a highly mechanized operation using sophisticated mass mailing techniques and equipment which eliminates any profit potential for an individual doing this type of work-at-home. The Inspection Service knows of no work-at-home promotion that ever produces income as alleged."
MULTI-LEVEL MARKETING: Typical Ad -- "Our products make it possible for people like you to earn more than they ever have in their lives! Soon you can let others earn money for you while you and your family relax and enjoy your affluent lifestyle! No experience necessary."
Multi-level marketing, a direct sales system, is a well-established, legitimate form of business. Many people have successfully sold the products of reputable companies to their neighbors and co-workers. These people are independent distributors who sell popular products and also recruit other distributors to join them. On the other hand, illegitimate pyramid schemes can resemble these legitimate direct sales systems. An obvious difference is that the emphasis is on recruiting others to join the program, not on selling the product. For a time, new recruits who make the investment to buy product samples keep money coming into the system, but very few products are sold. Sooner or later the people on the bottom are stuck with a saturated market, and they cannot make money by selling products or recruiting. When the whole system collapses, only a few people at the top have made money and those at the bottom have lost their investment.
ONLINE BUSINESS: Typical Ad -- "Turn your Home Computer into a Cash Machine! Get computer diskette FREE! Huge Selection of Jobs! No experience needed! Start earning money in days! Many
companies want to expand, but don?t want to pay for office space. You save them money by working in the comfort of your home."
This is typical of advertisements showing up uninvited in your e-mail?an old scheme advertised in a new way. You pay for a useless guide to work from home jobs?a mixture of computer-related work such as word processing or data entry and the same old envelope-stuffing and home crafts scams. The computer disk is as worthless as the guidebook. It may only list free government web sites and/or work from home opportunities which require more money.
NEEDED WORK FROM HOME PEOPLE TO PROCESSING MEDICAL INSURANCE CLAIMS: Typical Ad -- "You can earn from $800 to $1000 weekly processing insurance claims on your home computer for health care professionals such as doctors, dentists chiropractors, and podiatrists. Over 80% of providers need your services. Learn how in one day!"
Typically, the promoter of this scheme attracts you by advertising on cable television and, perhaps, by inviting you to a business opportunity trade show at a hotel or convention center.
